How do we find you?

By Road

Sat Nav

Please be aware that Sat Nav devices tend to take you down a network of single track Cornish lanes; which can be unsuitable for larger vehicles. We therefore advise that whichever your direction of approach, travelling via St Austell and then following the directions as below.

From St Austell

Take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. Travel past Pentewan Sands and continue up the hill. Take the first right (signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan), continue over a narrow bridge and Heligan Woods is on your left.

From Newquay

Take the A3058 to St Austell. From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. Travel past Pentewan Sands and continue up the hill. Take the first right (signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan), continue over a narrow bridge and Heligan Campsite is on your left.

From Truro

Take the A390 to St Austell. From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. Travel past Pentewan Sands and continue up the hill. Take the first right (signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan), continue over a narrow bridge and Heligan Campsite is on your left.

From the M5

Heading South on the M5, join the A30 westbound at Exeter. At the Bodmin roundabout, take the A391 to St Austell. From St Austell, take the B3273 towards Mevagissey. Travel past Pentewan Sands and continue up the hill. Take the first right (signposted to The Lost Gardens of Heligan), continue over a narrow bridge and Heligan Campsite is on your left.

 

Public Transport

By Rail

St Austell is our nearest railway station and is only 5 miles from Heligan Campsite. 

There is a TIC office conveniently located within the station, who can advise you on bus links to the gardens on arrival. There is also a taxi rank immediately outside the station entrance.

By Bus

The Travel Cornwall 471 service links Heligan with Mevagissey, Goran and St Austell. Please catch this bus at the St Austell station. There is bus stop conveniently situated inside the Lost Gardens of Heligan car park. There is a gate linking the car park in the lost gardens to Heligan Campsite.

Can we walk to Mevagissey from Heligan Campsite?

Yes. The walk is a 40 mins to 1 hour stroll down along the cycle path. It is all off-road and suitable for pushchairs.

Please note however it can get a little muddy in wet weather.

How do we get to the Lost Gardens of Heligan reception?

The Lost Gardens of Heligan car park is situated adjacent to the campsite and there is a direct access gate near the shower blocks. Simply walk through the gate and follow signs to the Reception.

What facilities do you have?

Our campsite facilities include:

Do you get fully booked?

During peak times, we get very busy.

Can I arrive early/late for my booking?

Check-in is 12 noon for pitches and 4pm for Holiday Homes. Unfortunately, there is no additional parking on-site and therefore to reduce congestion and traffic control problems, please do not arrive before these times without prior agreement. 

Guests are welcome to check-in between 4pm and 8pm/dusk (whichever is sooner) on the day of arrival for holiday homes and between 12noon and 8pm/dusk (whichever is sooner) on the day of arrival for your pitch. Later arrivals by prior arrangements only: 01726 842 714.

During peak dates, we regret that we are unable to offer early check-ins for our holiday homes as it can cause delays in the overall cleaning process. 

What time do I have to check out from my pitch/holiday home?

Holiday homes must be vacated by 10am, at the latest, on departure and pitches by 10.30am to allow maintenance work between stays. Charges will be incurred for late check-outs that have not had a prior agreement by the park. Should you wish to arrange a late check-out, please contact Reception the day prior to departure to discuss (charges may apply). 

What type of camping pitches are available?

We have a range of non-electric pitches (ONLY for tents), campervan pitches and motorhome pitches. 

What other type of accommodation is available at Heligan Campsite?

We also have 16-holiday homes - ten of which are pet friendly. We also have one brand-new lodge, Azalea Lodge, which is dog-friendly. 

Why do I have to pay for my dog?

We charge for dogs to cover additional cleaning and the provision of dog bins around the site. For information on these charges, please give the team a call on 01726 842 714. 

Where is the nearest dog friendly beach?

Caerhays/Porthluney is a 10 minute drive from our campsite as is Hemmick Beach - both allow dogs all year round. Mevagissey has an area for dogs to paddle and many dog-friendly bars and restaurants and is just a 2-minute drive/or walkable within the hour from the campsite.

Can we use the facilities at Pentewan Sands?

Guests staying at Heligan Campsite may use the swimming pool and beach at Pentewan Sands, for which concessionary rates are available*. Subject car parking fees. Please note,that dogs are not permitted at Pentewan Sands and must not be left unoccupied at Heligan Campsite.

*The swimming pool is not available to use during Whitsun Week (25th May - 1st June) and the Summer Holidays (20th July - 31st August).

Do you have any wheelchair friendly vans?

Yes, we’re pleased to offer wheelchair-friendly accommodation with our new holiday home. With wide access, low threshold doors, full wet room, portable helper frame and wide single beds, this home is designed specifically to provide wheelchair users and their families with safe, easy access, disabled holiday in Cornwall. Please contact us for additional information.

What time is Reception open to / from?

Please note, we are a small team at Heligan Campsite and occasionally our Reception will be closed whilst we are working elsewhere on the site – during these times we will put a notice up to show our location so that you can find us. 

Do you have WiFi?

Limited WiFi is available throughout the park; please check the signal on your pitch and follow log-in instructions.

One device 1 day - £3.50, 3 days - £7, 7 days - £12. Up to four devices 3 days - £15, 7 days - £25. We offer a free 15-minute session and advise checking the signal strength on your pitch/holiday home before purchasing to avoid disappointment.

Please note, the Wi-Fi network is designed for general web browsing, email and social networking usage. Every effort has been made to provide a full Wi-Fi service across the site, however, there may be areas in the park that may have limited or no service. We cannot be responsible for the temporary withdrawal of the service due to adverse weather conditions or breakdown.

Can I bring more than one vehicle with me?

If you intend to bring two vehicles with you please mention this when placing your booking so that the team can ensure they select a pitch for you that is suitable.
