There’s always something happening in Cornwall. Whether it’s a cool music gig, foodie festival or family shindig, the what’s on scene is as gloriously wide as it is varied. Here’s our pick of events that you’re not going to want to miss…
Charlestown Regatta Week
22 – 28 July
For good old family fun join the townsfolk of nearby Charlestown for their annual regatta. Live music, competitions, pasty demos, raft races, water sports and classic favourites such as the grand carnival and flora dance procession all set to the backdrop of Charlestown’s magnificent Georgian harbour.
Port Eliot Festival, St Germans
27 – 30 July
Described as a literary festival come supped up garden party, this ultra-hip festival is set in the stunning surroundings of Port Eliot stately house. Grab yourself a day ticket and you’ll be rubbing shoulders with celebrities, models and a wild and eclectic mix of writers, poets, musicians, food lovers and party animals.
Falmouth Week
4 – 13 August
Experience the maritime town of Falmouth at its absolute best during this 10-day spectacular. As impressive yachts compete out in the bay get caught up in the shoreside entertainment complete with live music, street markets, children’s entertainment and even an appearance from the might Red Arrows.
Boardmasters Surf and Music Festival, Newquay and Watergate Bay
9 – 13 August
As the UK’s biggest surf, skate and music festival, Boardmasters has earned itself legendary status. Watch the surf, skate and BMX action at Fistral beach in Newquay and move to Watergate Bay for eight stages of music, rides, food stalls, bars and barrel-loads more. With Stormzy, Jamiroquai and The Vaccines on the bill, it’s gonna be a goodie!
Fowey Regatta and Carnival Week
13 – 19 August
Seriously stylish Fowey turns up the fun in this week-long festival with activities both on and off the water. See sailors showcase their thing in the regatta, join the carnival parade, eat and drink yourself silly and be part of the harbour throng as the impressive fireworks throw a myriad of colours over the sheltered waters. There’s also another chance to catch the Red Arrows!
Newquay Fish Festival
8 – 10 September
Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or newbie to the culinary treats of the sea, the Newquay Fish Festival is a foodie feast that you’re not going to want to miss. Sample the best fish to land on Newquay’s shores, be inspired by cookery demos and enjoy a generous side helping of entertainment and family fun.
Great Cornish Food Festival, Truro
22 – 24 September
Welcoming the great and good, as well as the small and fabulous, of
Cornwall’s culinary world, this three-day festival of Cornish goodness is one
big excuse to tuck-in and indulge. Meet local hero and Michelin starred chef Nathan Outlaw when he opens the festival, sample delicious treats and learn about the magnificence of Cornwall food and drink. Yum, yum!
Looe Music Festival
29 September – 1 October
Three days of superb live music, manic entertainment and a smattering of culture. Stages pop up everywhere from beaches to street corners and with over 90 bands on the line-up it’s set to be one big, hip-swinging party.
Falmouth Oyster Festival
12 – 15 October
An autumnal feast for the senses timed to coincide with the start of the oyster-dredging season, Falmouth Oyster Festival is this year celebrating its 21st birthday. Expect a four-day feast of cooking demos, live music and craft stalls and a chance to try the star of the show, oysters!
